I've had a couple of discussions, how and why we are selecting the threads we are reading and what triggers us to answer those.
Do you like to share your Thread selection criteria? Especially, how does the wording of the Title impact your decision? I have a certain Threads and members I'm following. Occationally I have a random look to New Posts. How the threads have been worded is not that important for me. (If this has been discussed already, just add link to the thread and we can discontinue this.)

I'll look if it's a topic I am interested in or can learn from, or it's about a piece of gear that I am interested in or have owned or have a view on based on experience, or if it is a new member looking for some advice, or if the poster is someone who has interesting views and/or a sense of humour, or if the poster has a good eye for a shot, or if the thread looks like it could be just interesting or funny, or is likely to involve some scrapping or controversy, or the title catches my eye ... otherwise I don't bother. I do tend to look at yours Olli because you're from Finland and that usually means something interesting and funny

Kind of like condyk, I'll go for posts that just grab my attention, or those where some of the more entertaining people are involved.
I'll also go for any with 0 replies if they are looking for help/opinions. I figure any opinion is better than none. And I know how odd my opinion is.

Oh yeah, and this one was selected on thread title as I do some late night forum grazing while listening to music on my Sennheisers so I don't wake the kids up.

first I look for those half dozen or so people that I can count on for critique of my stuff and give a comment or suggestion to them.. and then if something has less responses to it i'll try to give one... after that I scroll down looking for titles that sound interesting.
not very technical...but that's how I do it. I also do look at more than I respond to. Often times I just don't really have anything to say... I try to stay away from the standard "pretty pose" "cute kid" "nice light" responses...

I try and avoid anything with the big red L in it, or the words "test, lens, bokeh" anywhere near it.Nnot that there's anything wrong with it at all, it's just not my discussion being an avowed bargain hunter when it comes to glass.
Sharing photo I usually look for a subject that looks interesting or from someone who's work I recognize and look forward to. If I see a post dropping off with no comments, I try and check out there too and see if maybe everyone is missing out on something. And I think the stringency with which I filter threads for viewing greatly decreases inversely to the amount of spare time I have to kill. I was actually reading the rumour thread the other day I was so enamoured with free time

I just look thru the new posts. I'll look at most anything, but hardly ever the bug brigade stuff.

I select threads in 2 modes. Moderator mode or member mode.
Moderator mode: I read the threads I have to as part of the moderating task. Member mode: There are certain threads I stay far away from they include but are not limited to: - when the title is something like "stupid question", "help", "first post", "second post" or generally non-creative or non-imaginative - when the subject does not interest me - most rumor threads And there are certain threads I alwas read and that includes threads started by certain favorite members. If I notice those same members posting in threads I would not select based of above criteria I usually also read those. As for commenting on photos. I mainly comment on photos in Nature & Animals.

Do You mean who has responsibility for which forum? If that is what You mean then there is a link on the front page "View forum leaders" where You can see who are moderators in which forums.

Thanks Tommy, you interpreted my vague questions 100% correctly. This was exactly what I was looking after.

Tommy, you know I come on here and read and post but never look around to see how the whole thing works....I still find it amazing that we all have this place to come and share with people of like mind from all over the world....just think of how much further along we all are because of this opportunity....Thanks Pekka and everybody who helps keep this going!!!!!!
I look at the eyecatcher topics....I only comment on pictures that really hit me, Im an amateur and do not feel I have grasped the technical jargon or the eye to give relevent advise quite yet....I also like to stay away from the standard two to three word cliche responces (
