Smile Hummingbird nest with egg

The hummingbird I watched build her nest in my yard has laid an egg
Doesn't the nest look cozy?

Thanks for looking, I hope you like it.

That is really neat. I have been trying to spot a Hummingbird nest for years.

It's amazing how they accumulate all the materials and manage to place the just the right stuff in just the right spot.

Read somewhere they used spider web to hold the whole thing together.

Thanks Ion10c. It was very interesting watching her build her nest. I posted pictures of that last weekend and there were a couple where she had the spiderweb on her beak. I just wonder what the white fluffy material is.

Thank you, YOLA. I don't think these birds are made for sitting still too long. The nest is right outside my livingroom window and I check on it many times during the day. It is scarry how often it is left unattended for long stretches of time. But just as I begin to think that she may have abandoned the egg she comes back and sits down in her nest .

I'm sorry, I have no idea what the tree is called.

I'm glad you like it, Kraig. You seem to know a lot about hummingbirds. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Turnerzdad and Dennis, thanks for your nice comments as well.

Joel and Johnny, I really appreciate your kind words .

I hope to get some quick pictures of the little hummer in a few weeks. I believe it should take about another week and a half for the baby to hatch. Until then I'll leave the mom alone.

Bea,

You are so lucky to be able to watch this. You have done a wonderful job in documenting this process!
