Talking Rhino: Face to Face (56k warning)

On the Photo Safari at the San Diego Wild Animal Park. I think I shot off around 200 shots that day, here are 7 that sum up the day. Wildlife photo is pretty tough, I had a hard time with the light changing with the shadows and all. C&C would be greatly appreciated.

Very nice series, I would have like to see your best ones at the full 800 pixels in width. A flash for fill would have helped some of the strong shadows you get at the park. The white pelicans are going downhill, need to straighten the picture.

the giraffe would be great if it had some more depth of field. I dont mind the pelicans "going down hill" i think it is interesting but that is just personal taste. some of them are a little too contrasty and a light fill flash would have helped but i think they all are really great and beautifully sharp. What lens did you use to shoot these?

I think the giraffe shot is really cool... even given the current DOF. Pretty cool! Nice colours too.

Thanks for the comments y'all.

Dennis, you're right. I shoulda used the flash to fill. Right after I read your comment I pretty much felt like an idiot for not even thinking about it. But I guess at the time i was too caught up in being just "another kid at the Zoo."

As for the equipment: #1-#4 were off the Tamron 28-75, #5-#7 came off of the 75-300mm.

And the DOF on the Giraffe is pretty much where I wanted it to be, I was trying to get a shot at how prickly his whiskers were, they felt like cactus needles... you can kinda tell viewed at a larger size:

But again, thanks for the comments. I'm still learning, and every little bit helps.
