Just thought i would share my latest crazy idea (have posted it over at LUF too)
i bought a set of cheap body and lens bayonet caps of Ebay, cost me about $10 delivered.
I spent a few hours yesterday gluing them together, boring a hole through the middle and grinding it out with a dremel, and sanding the inside (for a matte finish, it still needs painting though)
i also thoroughly washed the tube, with a scrubbing brush, to remove any traces of dust, dried it with a towel and let it sit for a few hours before i mounted it to the camera.
the end result is a DIY extension tube that cuts my 50mm Summarit's min focus distance from 0.8m down to about 0.1m (Needs to be used with an M240 or M-P240, as you need the Live View to focus)
uncropped frame from the lens/tube combo - the lego man is a normal size.

a set of caps on the right, and the tube on the left

the bayonet fits tightly, but the lens/tube fit is friction only, so it isn't something i would mount the lens to for a walk, but would fit and remove it as needed - the tube/body does latch, as the caps i bought have recesses for the locking pin.
