Beautiful! Is Montparnasse open to the public? Do they have an observation deck?

Yes on both counts. Btw, it's quite windy / cold when I was up there last May. Here's a time lapse from the same spot: https://vimeo.com/96971950external link

Canons to the left, Canons to the right,
We hold our L glass toward the light,
Digitizing in a snap reflective glory
That will forever tell our imaged story.

Is this the Statue of Liberty located in the Jardin du Luxembourg or the one near the Grenelle Bridge on the Île des Cygnes?

River boats on river Seine.
Seen from the footbridge of musée d'Orsay, in the background: Concorde bridge and Grand Palais.

It must be the latter as I was on a boat.

I do confirm, it's the one which is at the South end of Ile des Cygnes

I've been to Paris twice, and both times I wasn't expecting to be there. I hope to return one day with more of an idea of where I want to go and what I want to do.

If you're interested, Rick Steve's publishes and Excellent guide book on Paris every year. Currently available is Paris 2015 on Amazon.

It's a great source of information on Paris in general, sights to see, the different neighborhoods, museums and nearby towns. Highly recommended.

Musée d'Orsay. I was able to photograph anything I liked in my 2007 visit. I got this shot from an upper balcony of the museum toward the Sacré Cœur in the distance.
