Starting a new thread for the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary:

Picked up the lens today, fading light relegated me to mounting it on the tripod and pointing it skyward.

Great shot.
Hoping to join you with the same camera/lens combination tomorrow! (if the dealer is true to his word...)

Have you spent much time MFA'ing the lens? Or was this shot "out of the box"?

This shot was out of the box and on the tripod. It was one of about a dozen clicks and was shot using live view auto focus. Unless I see something noticeably "off" with the results, I probably won't put much effort in MFA. I've not had to do it with any of my previous lenses and hoping for the same with this.

Live view doesn't require any MFA of course.

I have found that all my lenses have required some MFA on my 70D. So I am expecting to do some on the Sigma too.

Was able to grab a couple shots after work. Nothing special, but the poor lighting, cloud cover, slow shutter speeds and wide open settings were a decent test. Very minor adjustments made in post. Still no AF issues.

I was hampered by poor lighting the first day I got the lens. Today was a bit better, but I only had a few minutes to run out in the backyard and hope something interesting might show up. The bird on the fence is posted twice, the closer shot being a crop of the wider shot. The bird was probably 20-25 yards away. The Junco on the branch was much closer, within 10 yards.

the S is a bit better at 600mm throughout most of the frame, but the C slightly surpasses its bigger sibling at 150mm.

Nice shots!

These are not as exciting as the owls, but here are some of my first shots with the lens. The first two images are with a 70D before AFMA. The second two images are with a 40D. All shots were taken at 600mm and F7.1. The last image was taken through a window.
