Has any tried the new Yongnuo YN 35mm f/2 lens? I am in the market for a 35mm lens and I noticed that this may fit my budget. For now, I only see this listed on eBay. I am not sure when dealers in the USA will carry the lens.

Looking for experiences with the lens and reviews.

Thank you.

About time this thing hit the market, $115 shipped for a 35mm F2? The 50 F1.8 they cloned is still about $60 on ebay. Great deals for very good glass for the cost. Granted, they're made of plastic and not going to last or be durable, but for someone wanting to play with some AF capable sharp little primes, these are great.

The 35 F2 is a fantastic inexpensive option for APS-C too, since it's cheaper and faster than the 40 F2.8 & 24 F2.8, giving you a focal length between there at F2. Great option.

I might get one for my lady and test it out when she's not using it (I have an EF 35 F2 IS, so it's pointless for me to have, but having another 35 F2 around that I don't mind her using with the kids (she breaks stuff fast) could be cool.

Very best,

Dealers in the US??? The only actual US dealer I know of is B&H. The rest are just jersey shipping addresses for Chinese or Hong Kong dealers. At this point B&H hasn't even gotten the yongnuo 50mm in stock (still listed as "coming soon") so if you need it soon eBay will be your best bet.

Also since the lens was just released yesterday's. It could be a few weeks before people even have the lens. So reviews might take a bit to start trickling in.

For $115 shipped, I ordered one. Estimated delivery May 6-15. I'll let you know when I get it.

I've been looking for a cheap faster prime for my father- he's about ready to give up on film (he's still shooting the AE-1) since the processing costs are so high. I've been picking up some lenses here and there for him, but needed a fast relatively normal field of view lens to add (I'll be giving him a 40d), so I'm giving it a shot.

This happens all the time.

They are $50 on ebay. A ton of people start viewing them on ebay, so the sellers instantly hike the price to catch suckers. Then in a week, the view counts drop, and the price goes back down. Happened with the 50 F1.8 too. They went from $58 to $120 and back down to $60. The 35 will do it too. $115... $200... and in a few weeks, they'll be $80 or so, just watch.

Very best,

for 80 bucks I'll def pick one up for my wifes SL1 for her to use. Maybe even I can play around with it a bit. When it goes for 80 bucks I'll buy it. It'll be a cheap low light lens for her.

Waiting for someone to review it. I'm eager to know how it performs against the original Canon EF 35/2.

Looking forward to reading your reviews. I am wondering how it compares with the Canon EF35mm. The price remains at $280 so I'll wait. Thanks.

I was thinking very heavily about getting one...but decided to invest in the 35L several weeks ago. Even with the 35L, I still would kinda like to have this lens just because I think it's cool.

Yeah- that's what I want to see...the original 35f2 is a pretty good bargain at ~$200 used

Keep in mind that the Yongnuo 35mm f/2 is not an exact clone of the EF 35mm f/2.

They have moved the focus ring and there is no way to attach a lens hood other than using the 52mm filter threads.
