I hope the lens has arrived by now. Any sample shots yet?

Mine still hasn't arrived- maybe one day. I have a case open with ebay/paypal- if it isn't here by the 10th I'll just get the money back.

I purchased one from Amazon and found out it was a total piece of junk. I only took about a dozen shots then packed it back up and returned it.

I tried some indoor shots and they were pretty bad - not sharp at all. I took it outside and surprisingly I had even worse luck. Just nothing sharp in the whole photo at f/2.0.

The noise from the focus motor is pretty awful, too.

I was hoping this would be a nice, cheap way to see if I liked shooting with a 35mm lens. I think I'll try the Canon 35 f/2 IS next. I've heard lots of good things about that lens.

There is another thread about the Yongnuo 35mm f2 where the owner didn't remove the plastic protection from the rear element. The lens got a whole lot sharper after he did. ;-)a

Here is a review: http://petapixel.com ...ks-a-punch-for-the-price/ (external link)

And an AF sound test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqMkLs5mxhY (external link)

NOTE: The Canon EF 35mm in this video doesn't sound right. The AF is noisier and slower that it should be. The front of the lens has been removed and then re-installed in the incorrect position. It's seems that someone has tried to service it and didn't do a good job.
("Canon Lens Made In Japan" should be at the bottom of the lens)

you could always try the original 35 f2...should be able to grab it for less than $200, and if you don't like it, sell it for the same amount

I did see and remove the plastic protector from the lens. I can see how someone could miss it. I wish I could say that was the issue :)

Did you remove TWO layers of plastic? In the link I provided the poster said he removed one and got soft images. Later he found a second layer he had to remove as well. After that the lens was sharp.

Interesting, I only noticed (and removed) one. If that's the case, there are going to be a lot of these lenses returned...

Yeap,

It will tidal wave down to $116, get sales, then in a week, go back over $200 to try and get a few fools.

Mean while, the YN 50mm F1.8 is steady at $54 on average right now or so. Quite a bargain for a very good lens relative to its cost.

I'll wait until the YN 35mm F2 drops closer to the $80ish area when it finally settles down and probably pick one up for the wife to break.

Very best,

My lens just arrived. I removed one protective cover on the from and one on the back lens. I seem to be having trouble with the auto focus with my Canon 7D on Auto Mode when taking pictures inside my house and outside. I have tried the lens with my Rebel and it seems to work fine in Auto Mode.

Auto focus on other modes works fine. Does anybody have similar issues?
