I have a M5 I got from my Aunt who bought it in the mid 50's. What is the approximate value?

I have a M5 I got from my Aunt who bought it in the mid 50's. What is the approximate value? I also have a the telephoto lens for it. It needs some refurbishing, is it worth it and what is a good dealer to do it?

Thanks

Here is a neat little opinion article on the M5, a bit of a love affair;

Here in RI my local camera repair guy is amazing! You could ask him about Leica if your willing to ship.

Well thats amazing because the M5 didnt come out til 1971 lol. But if its in LN/EX++ condition and the meter still works expect about $900-1300 for the body. I would need to know what focal length the lens is and a picture to determine the value.

Sorry, it is a M3 - 749285. That is what is on the top. Any idea of history on that serial? What it might be worth?

Check with KEH.com to see what they are selling thwm foe, they also purchase older gear such as that. Keep in mind that they have ro make a profit so their offer would be less than retail.

Well its the 49,824 made so not early first one out in 1954. Just do a search on e-bay for a quick
education on the worth of the M3. You will find many variables quite interesting.

Not an expert in serial numbers, just using my M as often as my 5Dc.
Serial number list is available on-line for Leica products, Cameraquest.com might have some info about special ones.
If it is regular M3, price depends on if it is working or not.
