Had some free time yesterday in Rhode Island, so I drove down to Newport. I'm brand new to the area (officially moving up from Florida next month) so I'll definitely be exploring these beach more soon! The deep aqua of the water and purple in the rocks was just awesome – I haven't ever seen a combination like that before!

Was out hiking today and came across this very wet juvenile Wallaby( similar to a Kangaroo). After staying dead still ( obviously assessing the threat we posed ) and watching our every move he finally decided he needed to put some distance between himself and us and took off with one of the highest and longest jumps Ive ever seen a wallaby do..Not sure who was more startled by his huge jump...him or us !.....

^ That's a lovely portrait, but the skin smoothing is a bit too much perhaps? Looks porcelain-ey.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Thanks I over did it. But does it look rubbery fake? I'll redo it thanks for the comment.

Yeah, the face looks a bit oversmoothed IMO.

Finally found a good deal on a Sigma 120-300mm Sport & their new 2x extender. Really dig it so far. This isn't a great example since it was diffused through the reeds, but I didn't have many shots from the 5Ds since the 1DIV stayed on most of the hike.

I didn't initially notice it, but I suppose the giveaway is mom has better skin than the baby :-)

couple from today ....I also swapped the 100-400 for my 16-35mm to see if I could get a different type of horse jump shot by getting close and wide. It meant having surrounding vegetation/landscape etc in focus for a change rather than the normal way of isolating the jumpers with a long telephoto which is the normal way of shooting these events . Very different affect and good for a change as the normal sort of shooting with a telephoto can get awfully boring at times . Only issue was getting close enough to the jumpers which had me lying just next to the side and slightly in front of the jump even though I look like I was well away from the jumpers . All I needed was a horse to hit the jump and vere to the right slightly and I was in trouble but they all got over without incident and I got my shots

The rider looks terrified. Excellent timing to show her emotion.
