Default POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO DAY
So, I decided to start a new thread about our photo day. After discussing ideas back and forth for the last couple of days here what we've come up with.
Please keep in mind that all rules are negoitable. This is about fun, entertainment, creativity and sharing.... but, most importantly it's about everyone getting out and about and shooting in your environment..
The guidelines area as follows, I'm posting them early so I can get lots of feedback on anything you like or don't like.

1. Photos need to be taken within twenty miles of home.

2. No extreme post-processing. we'll take your word for it but keep your compositions in the original form.

3. You have from Saturday morning through sunday evening to take your photos.. Please have everything posted by sunday night.

4. The first theme is going to be pretty wide open. I'm doing it on purpose, if this takes off we can specify it more...

Your favorite place... Notice I said place. Be it a schoolhouse, a church, a park, a room in your grandma's house. A favorite photo spot You get the idea.....

these are just my thoughts with a few suggestions from other folks... Please feel free to ask questions or suggest improvements....

I think the weekend should be clarified a little bit. Since it could be all out confusing, being a global forum, I believe we should reference a time zone. Even though it's not a competition, having specific deadlines would let us move on to the next challenge much more fluidly.

Sari and I agreed that the Eastern Standard Time (EST, New York) would be a good reference point.

If You have windows you have it right at Your hand. Open the time adjust dialog, click on timezone and You see the timezone You have choosen. Yours is probably GMT-5.

Here is a link for world times, pretty easy too. http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_UTC.aspx
So enlighten me please, lets just say that the event would start Saturday at 09:00 am Greenwich Mean Time and would end at 5:00 pm Sunday and posting deadline by...say Sun 10:00 pm.
For us in ET it would be from Sat 04:00 am (-5) to Sun 12:00 (noon) posting by 5:00pm. But for somebody in Australia, it would be Sat 8:00 pm to Mon 04:00 am (+11) and posting by Mon 3:00 pm?
Now, keep in mind that if I'm not understanding this correctly is because I've been up since 4:30 this morning crunching numbers to finish some reports for a client.
Another thought, perhaps the limit on pictures should be 2 (forum upload limit), since not everybody might have a place to link them from.

No, but Canon does make other cameras that use precious metals on plastic to record an image which is chemically, not electronically rendered visible.
