Always been fascinated by film and the rich colours and tones so made the leap and got a Hassy 500Cm

First couple of rolls behind us and have a few lessons learned. We tried to shoot a few frames at weddings but found that we were rushing too much so put it away and only use it for personal work for now.

Next challenge is finding a good lab to get the negatives developed and scanned. I've heard of RPL but we are in NZ so it is quite far away!

Just curious, how are you making out with the Hassy? Have you had a chance to take it out much? I have a couple of rolls of 120 film for my medium format camera, which I bought a few years ago, sitting in my fridge because I haven't really done much film shooting since I bought a digital back for my MF camera.

I had intended to sneak in a roll to shoot at each wedding last summer, but only managed a grand total of 7 rolls for the whole season, it was a real steep learning curve and more often than not i fudged it up because of a mixture of technique and timing. While generally I found that exposure was good, the focus wasn't as accurate.

After wedding season I just took it slow and used it for personal projects with greater success as I was able to take my time and set it up properly.

Thanks for your update, Candy.

Aside from the 120 films, I also have a few rolls of 35mm slide and negative films sitting in my fridge and has been for more than a few years. And as much as I'd really like to get out and shoot film again, I'm just too spoiled by digital. I just can't pull myself away from the instant gratification I get shooting digital. LOL

I also have a Rolleiflex TLR which I inherited from my father. Obviously, there is no digital back for it so I was thinking that the next time I got out with my MF camera with the digital back, I'll also take along the TLR and shoot both together. :)

So where we can see the results from this Mf you got? i started MF with Hasselblad, and what is better than Hasselblad to start with, hahahaha, i mean i started MF in digital and film with Hasselblad, digital body and film body alongside with Mamiya, so Hasselblad is my MF entry in my life.

I would recommend doing it yourself, not that hard and super affordable. in 3 rolls it pays off the cost of the developing tools.

Phase one for one.

That time i started Phase One wasn't the top one, it was on par with Hasselblad and i even prefer Hasselblad that time, now i can think that Phase One and even Pentax and Leica all can be a great starter, but that time with Hasselblad fame, it is hard to beat.
