NICE! Makes me giddy, UPS notified me that my S7 was delivered today... so just waiting to get off work!

Forgot to ask, were your shots SOOC?

SOOC

I did notice that the RAW files are markedly different than the SOOC files, I was struggling to get the DNG files to look reasonably similar to the SOOC (no reason other than just trying to see how much the camera massages JPEGS that are SOOC. The SOOC's although not perfect are pretty dang good from this camera.

JPEGS with minor tweaks in light room - shot in auto mode... I am LOVING the close-up focusing ability (MACRO) of this phone! I don't feel as bad when I don't bring my DSLR with me now in many instances.

Heya,

So, I've used my S3 since it was released. Just a few weeks ago, my S3 took a dive into the Santa Fe River here in Florida, while I was doing long exposure photography of the river. It was just in my pocket, like an idiot. Anyhow, obviously I hadn't had a new phone in a long time. I never liked camera phones--never liked what they output. I got the new S7 as a replacement, because it takes the SD card and because of the moisture tolerance it has natively now. I of course played around with it's camera abilities, and while the still photos are pretty great for a "point & shoot" feel, but with way more speed, it's real strength to me is video. I do very little video, so having something that can do pretty stellar video with really, really good stabilization is quite astonishing. Stabilization and 60 FPS video is incredible, the playback is super smooth.

Anyhow, I remembered this thread, and recently went to Cocoa Beach, FL the past few days on business, so took my camera and stuff, but also used the Galaxy S7 just to see how it performed in situations I normally reserve for "cameras."

These are straight out of the phone (S7) in Auto & JPG, only cropped and water marked, no other edits applied:

Heya,

They say the best camera is the one you have with you. I was having a good pipe in the field today after dinner, and there was a relatively nice little sunset, so the S7 was what was with me and it did the capturing.

Heya,

I used to use my EOS-M at bathtime, but the water-resistance of the S7 and it's ability to grab focus in low light and perform well in low light (F1.7) makes it a lot easier to take splashes and sprays while playing at bathtime.

Heavy crops:

Wow. I have Galaxy S7 Edge and haven't even considered using it as a real camera.
Looking at the posts above I'm remiss, just fantastic shots you all have posted.

Now how to get to raw mode? Didn't even know that either? OK 'Pro mode' now
I can shoot RAW, how cool :)
