He was out in a big field, maybe a kilometre from his den and babies, when I drove by and got to watch him hunting. He missed once, but had better luck on his second effort. I was looking into the setting sun, what little sun there was today.

At first glance of these images i was really impressed by all of the stages of the pounce that you captured.
My brain was like "Wow, how did you capture such incremental moments." Two seconds later. "Oh yeah, 1DX."

Great series. Quite envious.
I have yet to find my Red Fox yet.

LOL, no not with this guy. This is the male. I saw him earlier at the den and he freaked out on me. He ran away, then stopped and barked at me, three or four times. I find the males much more difficult to get good shots of. These were all taken from my truck window, he seemed OK with that. Plus I was shooting between some roadside bushes which likely kept him calm.

LOL Bob, finally. Weather has been nice, but rainy today. Time for alternate activities :)

Wow Ian, very impressive! It's amazing to see them pounce the same way that they do with snow cover. Looking forward to lots more!
