Now that the Canon 5D Mark IV has been officially announced by Canon USA, let's discuss!

It's nice to see that it offers f/8 support across all 61 AF points (similar to the 1DX2) and full touch screen control.
And after reading through the entire press release, the $3,499 price tag seems fair once you analyze all of the new features. As a 1DX2 owner, I have to say that the new AF system is a very significant upgrade for the 5D-series.

Also stoked to see Canon say that it will be available in early September!

Cheers,
Bryan

Well, it hasn't yet been officially announced, we have what Canon will release due to a premature configuration issue on their website.

That will be the official announcement here very soon though!

My thoughts

Much is going to depend on how well the new sensor performs with ISO, dark and shadow performance...That will be the primary focus for those that have the 5D3

Im not excited about 30Mb files

Has new stuff and built in Wifi that many will love.

$3499.00 for the body is same as the 5D3 at last release

Most people that do this for a living will now need to make a decision.....2 5D4's or a single 1Dx2 body...The 1Dx2 is going to be cheaper by $1000.00

Im really happy that I went 1Dx2 and I plan on hanging on to the current 5D3 for another season until Im forced to do something

on Paper this 5D4 looks great

Iso dark and shadow performance will determine how well it sells. It needs to be clean at 12800 ISO. Hoping it will get there.

Testers reports will be out next week. Obviously Clay Blackmore and Lindsey Adler have had their hands on it. Willing to bet Jeff Ascough has had his hands on it as well....These guys are straight up people and will put out good info about the camera.....I would read carefully

"Dual Pixel RAW***, in-camera Digital Lens Optimizer during JPEG shooting and Diffraction Correction technologies."

Seems like only Ken Rockwell may be excited about this one :p

Great thoughts Mike! Totally agree with you. I know both of us are glad that we got in on the 1DX2 when we did.
Total gamechanger. It will be interesting to see how this new 5D4 will compare.

Cheers,
Bryan

It's been pulled. However the link I provided is what others had already pulled before Canon retracted the announcement.

My Prediction

Take it for what its worth

5D4 will not be as good as the previous 1Dx1

1Dx1 can be had for 4500.00, has better shutter life and is clean at 12800 ISO

Wait and read what the reports will be about sensor performance before you pre-order. reports will be out next 2 weeks.
