I have 17 Canon rigs from Pro bodies to Cine rigs and I pre-ordered the M5+18-150.

Shot with the M5 for about 45 minutes last month in some very crappy lighting. Was impressed and happy about the pre-order.

BUT.

I work at a camera shop for fun part time. So I can shoot with anything from anybody at any time.

And my latest purchase was...a very different direction.

The Panasonic FZ2500 and I'm blown away.

Go play with one.

No, not just you...all of Canon's senior management especially their designers and program managers need to go buy one and play with it.

I'll wager real bucks that non of them will sell it.

Lotsa stuff, running outta room and a wife...I keep looking at her and wondering???

I like the image quality more from the 16 mpx fuji sensor with 18-55 kit lens over my Canon 80D with 16-35 f/2.8mk2. For overall performance though the 80D destroys all of the 16mpx fuji's in Video.

If the Canon M5 had a decent mature lens lineup it' be more appealing to most average folks. You cannot beat dual pixel AF for a casual user wanting dead on accurate autofocus in video.

For affordable glass that is small is the 18mm f/2. The IQ from the fuji line is remarkable.

Think about that one for a moment.

Is the 50mm 1.2 "mature"? It adapts without being too cumbersome. Likewise two 100mm macros, nifty fifty, and plenty more. Some lenses won't be miniature, but if I end up getting an M5 it may be more for the compact body and just something different for a change.

My version of "something different" is the spectacular Fuji X-t2 system. On average it's has smaller lenses that EF-S/EF lenses and for a crop sensor fuji has a 24mm f/1.4 and 35 f/1.4 field of view.

Canon still does NOT offer a steller 24mm or 35mm FOV fast primes for their crop sensor system.

There's a lot of systems these days. I will have to say everyone has a preference so this will be a very personal choice.

Just as well as there are about 4 years between the release to the Fuji 16Mpx and the 80D. Why not compare a Fuji from the same release year as the 80D for video like the X-T2.

You could look at which one shoots log, has clean HDMI output to external recorders, shoots 4K, Dynamic range, sharpness, bit rate, compression [4:2:2 etc...], better viewfinder/screen, colour profiles.....

You have both so you should be able to make a reasonable comparison.
