I am torn as to which one to get. They both get decent reviews. Mainly looking for a good walk around prime and I do a lot of portraits ( of my kids) which lens would you go for? If you have sample images thatll be great!

For walk around, I'd go 25. For Portraits, I'd go 45, lol. Sorry I couldn't help decide. Both are great lenses and not that expensive either, so if you can stretch it, get both. Of the two though, I'd suggest the 25 first. 45 could be too long for general walk around.

If you go on mu-43 you'll see extensive sample image galleries for both.

^^ Same here - couldn't decide, so got both. ;-)a

As mentioned above, the 25 would be a better choice for a walk around lens.

I have a 25mm and my co-worker has a 45mm. If I had to pick 1 of them, I'd go with the 25mm.

I vote for the 17mm and 45mm. That you get more of a "spread". YMMV. I like 35mm views most of the time better than 50mm. If your only picking one I would do the 25mm since it and sorta do both.

Based on your needs stated in the post, 25 for sure. IMHO

Totally agree re the 17. The 35mm focus length is great for walk-around and street photography. I picked up a 45 specifically for portraits. Both are great glass.

For me the 45 1.8... For portraits I use the 12-40 2.8 and don't use it that much..

I picked up the 17 1.8 first then the 45 1.8 and thought about getting the 25 1.8 for the standard focal length, but decided to just stay with the 2 I have and maybe look back into it later or go with the Sigma 30 1.4...

I thought the 45 1.8 would be to long for a walk around, but was wrong. Its great for general purpose walk around and it stays mounted to my E-M5 2 90% of the time..
