Didn't see a thread for the "lowly" kit lens. This little guy doesn't get a lot of love but if you shoot in it's sweet spot it's a great little lens.

Since no one else wants to play, I'll just play with myself. :-)

Nice shots. I agree that I don't think it gets the credit it deserves. With the kit lens and the 10-18, they cover the majority of my shots. I also have the 35/1.8 when I need it.

I agree, this is an underrated lens. Here's a few shots of downtown Detroit done with 1650.

That said, I think I will be going back to 18-55 as my go-to "portable" setup. It's not that much bigger (not like I'm going to pocket it either way) and it is just a bit better optically. Doesn't have 16mm but alas the 1650 is the weakest at that FL.

Truth? I like this little lens too... I uploaded the profile into LR and it does a great job... it's up to par with most other kit lenses..and tiny which is why I went mirrorless in the 1st place.

Very nice shots! I don't know why are there so many "bad" reviews of this lens, but here are shots that say the opposite.

Canon 5D II, Sony A7 II, Carl Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 FE, Sigma 50mm f/2.8 Macro, Canon 135mm f/2 L, Canon 35mm f/2 IS, Samyang 24mm f/3.5 Tilt Shift, Carl Zeiss 24mm f/2 SSM, Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 VC USD

I'd say starting from about 19-20mm, f8.

Many people are saying it's soft at 50 but mine seems ok.
