Thanks. The phone really isn't old, just a replica and why I wanted it out of focus. :-)

Here's an advertisement for a similar camera from 1915 found at Duke University's Digital Repository. They sure don't make them like they used to. ;-)a

A lot of my family worked at Kodak, graduated from RIT up in Rochester, better know as Rotten-Chester ;-)a

For you guys with the a7riii do you find it locks focus better in low light than the Rii? I’ve been struggling indoors recently at times. Does the 3 have a lower EV focus rating?

yes.

R2 = -2EV

R3 = -3EV

R3 basically locks a bit better in all conditions.

in practice, I find the R3 an absolute pleasure to work with. It does take a LOT of time to configure, but an absolute joy when you've got it down.

Love the rating system, rate my stuff so fast and only import my rated....... saves a lot of time since I can check focus on the camera a lot faster than on PC, otherwise, 8fps (what I typically shoot at), can become a monster.

Banding in silent shutter is improved, but not rid of. All my lights, LED + flourescent have not been a problem. Same lights caused banding on the R2! It doesnt make sense, but it is what it is. Lights at my brothers wedding, in the church, at the reception all LED's/Flourescent, no issues. But it's definitely YMMV type deal, could be a California thing, with latest tech.

Of course I'm only a little past my 1 month ownership so a lot of euphoria bias in my post, it's been a pleasure for sure. I've went to three landscape outings now, and really loving this camera. Sometimes I have living objects in the frame, and I want to get a better moment... this helps me get it more easily. The other night, I left my primary SD card at home..... thank goodness for autoflow into the second slot......

I loaded shots from my camera to my iPad last night. This was one of my first batches to review using the Zeiss 35/2.8. Man those shots really pop. The sharpness is fantastic. I'm finally really seeing the benefit of the Eye AF. For some reason I have struggled with that more with my other lenses. This lens is making me more excited about the Sony world.

We got above freezing today for the first time in a few days...it's been unusually cold here this winter...
