I'm looking to shoot swimmers underwater in an outdoor pool making their turn off the wall. Since radio freqs don't work underwater, I'm going to have to go to a wired to trigger or wired to flash scenario.
I've watched a couple videos from different sports shooters on the best type of strobe to use for this. As you would guess, opinions are varying. Some suggest Einsteins for short durations coupled with PocketWizards to enable HyperSync. Some suggest Profotos, either the B1 or the D2, for different reasons. Haven't seen many suggest Elinchrom or Godox, the former I'm not familiar with, the later I am.
Can any of you share what you feel would be the best unit for this? To give an example of settings, outdoor pool in almost full sunlight, ISO 100, 5.6, 1/1600-2000 under exposes by roughly 2 stops, so the strobe above is providing the light on the swimmer.
Couple requests I have in the system:
2. Cord aren't a huge deal for me as all electrical in this situation will be off the ground
3. Power has to be key as the distance from the flash above water to the swimmer will be somewhere around 7 feet and water eats up light.
