Nothing noteworthy in this photo other than the fact that I was just testing the spread of AF points in the VF. Yeah, it's lifted from the 80D and it occupies only the center area of the entire VF and it's not as wide as other FF options...but it doesn't mean that all your subjects will have to be dead center.

IMAGE: https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4621/26383106408_16e27c9242_c.jpg
I chose spot AF and selected one of the AF points at the very edge of the 6D2's array and aimed it at the left eye of my subject and this is the result. It was a very informal and unscientific test so there's nothing special about it. I'm coming from the original 6D and the all cross-type AF points help a lot...I did use the outer points on the 6D and they do work as long as you know what you're doing. Don't believe those who say that outer points don't work or that only the center point is reliable.

I found this video too comparing the 6D2 with other FF cameras as far as the spread of AF points is concerned

Liking everything on this camera so far (I still have my 6D but my friend already said he wants to buy it so I'm just waiting for him to save enough money to pay for it) except for the high ISO performance...the 6D is better than the 6D2.

“except for the high ISO performance...the 6D is better than the 6D2.”
So what leads you to that conclusion? I haven’t read anyone else claiming that?

I'll claim it, because I agree. Images from the original taken at high ISO are easier to clean than the 6D II, and at high ISO in low light settings I could get deeper blacks with the 6D without as much work.

I've reached that conclusion after using both cameras.

I shot them with identical settings: WB, Exposure, Center AF only, Faithful picture style (this one, I had to put the 6D2's sharpening to 0 because the 6D was at 0).

Wish they just kept the old sensor and upgraded everything else rather than a megapixel bump but a hit in high ISO. This reminds me of the 50D and 40D back then.

Am I disappointed? Yeah, I read reviews prior to purchasing the 6D2 and the glaring negative thing people always talked about was the DR which isn't really an issue for me so I was OK with everything until I saw the high ISO shots. Am I returning it? Nope, I'm keeping this one. The better AF really means a lot to me and my 6D is already 4+ years old with about 120,000 actuations and I'm lucky that someone is willing to buy it from me. The rest of the drawbacks, I can live with. With the 6D, I set my personal limit to 12800 but for this 6D2, I'm sticking to 6400 max most probably.

Thanks guys. The low light abilities of the 6D are the entire reason I purchased it. To see that ability reduced with the new Mark II is a real downer for me. I don’t go looking for low light shots but it seems to happen so frequently that I need and love my 6D for that. I can’t afford the 5D IV so will hang on to my camera.

The DR becomes a significant issue in situations where uncontrolled lighting forces less than optimal exposure (and need for high ISO). Any attempt at raising exposure in shadows results in uncontrollable magenta cast. I've really wanted this to work out because articulating screen will help me, but I don't think this body, for me, is quite ready to replace my 5DIII.

The 5DIV fan club won't like my opinion, but the 6D in this regard is still better.

In the future, I'm definitely gonna buy another 6D just for keeps...maybe it won't get the same cult status as the original 5D (classic) but IQ-wise, the 6D is definitely up there. For now, I'll have to use the 6D2 and make sure it pays for itself.
