Thanks to all who entered...I truly enjoyed each entry.
1st Place goes to Oh Look.....love the colors in that fat cat..erpillar
2nd Place to Cory......bees are so hard to capture so I am impressed!
3rd Place to Teekay....beautiful butterfly. As I sit here & type on my iPad, there are about 200 Monarchs flitting around my backyard where the pair up, land & mate in my hedge roses. Not to mention 5 Hummingbirds at my feeder....

POTN G-series Speed Challenge #649 - Creepy Crawlies/Insects

Description of this week topic:
This morning I was delighted to watch a huge batch of Monarch butterflies hatch in a nearby tree and then watched them flutter & scatter about. While I was watching the butterflies, a huge winged grasshopper landed on my arm and bees buzzed nearby. I love insects so this week, impress me with your take on them

Maureen, thank you for hosting and for choosing my avatar. How lucky you are to have a yard full of monarchs! Unless you planted a milkweed forest to get them, in which case you're smart. Congratulations on Cory's bumblebee and teekay's iridescent butterfly.

Jim, your butterfly is a Gulf fritillary. I'm afraid it came in too late for the competition.

I'll work up a theme and post the next challenge sometime soon.

Congratulations to OhLook and Cory, and thanks for #3 spot for my old butterfly, Maureen! I was going to go out and try for a shot of one of the many critters flitting and flying around our garden right now, but it's just too hot and smoky from forest fires to be crouching around outside in the sun. I really wish my G15 had a flip screen - it would make macros a lot easier.

New challenge is up.

The standard form says not to comment on images until the challenge is over. I think it would also be best to avoid giving Likes to entries until then because this too expresses an opinion and kind of looks like an attempt to influence the judge.
