When planning my trips out to the desert southwest, I will mess around with Stellarium to get a better idea of what I'll be looking at in the sky on any giving day/time.

According to Stellarium, the ISS will transit the MilkyWay core at 7:12ish PM on October 18th. Watching the Stellarium simulation with TwentyNine Palms as my location, it will take ISS about 30 seconds to go from the right side of the core to the left. 14mm f/2.8 anyone?

Stellarium is making it to be a nice shot for Southern California locations, but as you get farther away, perspectives change, of course.

Again, not sure how accurate Stellarium is though.
