I've always been a Canon shooter, even when I sold all my Canon gear and stopped photography for a year, when I returned the problem I found was that I really didn't know what I was buying with the Nikon system, I mean it was clear that the Sensor in the D810 was amazing (not that I ever used the camera) but I bought a camera when it was on offer and I had it on the shelf for a while and I never got round to buying a lens to even try it, in the end one of my buddies bought it off me for more than I paid so was no loss. But seeing as I was thinking of adding a 5Dsr as I currently only have 1 body, it got me thinking instead of dropping £3k on a 5dSR do I consider having a Nikon D850 + a few lens and have a more diverse system?
Never been bothered what I shoot, but I really feel at home with the canon system and the lens selections work for me, I don't need anything really just choice and enjoy detail in the shots.
So in short the thing that I felt was that I knew where I stood with the L-Glass, specially that 70-200mm ƒ/2.8 mk ii, that for me is what made me in the end go back into the Canon system, even though the specs of the D810 seemed to be better, the lens that I would attach to said camera seemed to be the harder choice, as the D810 seemed a no brainer really.. I have no regrets with the 5DmkIV i think its brilliant, and I have no intention of selling my Canon gear!!
So do I get a 5Dsr or put a pre-order down for a D850 and a lens and start building up some Nikon gear also?
