Jeepers...a freebie week & still only 3 participants. Kind of disheartening. I am on my iPad so I will make this quick.....First, I could have chosen any of these photos as my #1 choice because they were each very appealing in their own right but since I have to place them, here goes.

1st: Teekay. As I scrolled down from top to bottom I was wondering what this photo was all about. Amazing how dwarfed those people are!!! I loved the surprise ending.
2nd: Cory. Just a great composition that has me thinking about making myself a cup.
3rd: Trumper. Beautiful skies, love the bands of orange & yellow. The bird makes a great focal point.

Thank you for participating. We

Congratulations all, so sorry, I had intended to participate but got slightly distracted due to one of the dogs going into hospital for an op on her cruciate ligament ߘ. Will be back next week.

Kudos to all three. They were such good shots that I had no chance with the few I have. And I still haven't got my loaned G7x back.

Cory, the coffee shot is stellar. Nicely done.

Trumper, level that horizon and then frame it.

Thanks, Maureen, although with a wide open subject like that I hoped you would get far more entries - I always hope for the #2 slot rather than having to set a new challenge.

Surprised you apparently had to scroll down so much to see all of my entry as I had sized it (I thought) to just fit on most monitors vertically as it does on mine at 960p.

Now to dream up a new challenge - give me a few hours....

Maybe on most monitors, but this is the amount my laptop will do at once (resized).

Same here. 13" MacBook Pro. Not enough screen real estate. Not complaining, mind you. It's the price you pay for a small, light laptop.

So many of you guys are viewing our masterpieces through, in effect, a pinhole? I'm amazed. I assumed that most photographers here would be using big monitors, far better than mine, to work with.

Congratulations to all the participants, specially to the winners of this challenge.

Almost always, viewing a portrait or vertical image implies some amount of vertical scrolling.
It has been so even when we had small pixel sizes as the max size allowed for the entries.

I have a 'normal' monitor with 1440 x 900 pixels screen. Taken into account the header of any browser and the footer of an operating system (i.e. the taskbar of Windows 10), there are only 700-720 vertical pixels left for the display of an image.
That means that teekay would have to re-size his image to an illegal (less-than-800 pixels in the longest side) size to fit my monitor.

Remember: Only monitors with very large screens can see all the vertical size without scrolling.
We were (and we are) used to scroll to see vertical images. :)
