Hi, I'm beginning as newborn photographer. Can anyone recommend which studio light is best for beginning? I heard a lot about einstein640, and alien bees, but is there any others? Also, I'm considering alien bees for my budget.

If Paul C Buff units fit your budget, there isn't reason not to use them. The new DigiBee is both low-cost and has bright enough LED modeling lights to use for photography if you want to use continuous lighting to avoid startling a baby (I'll note: It's not a matter of a flash causing any harm to a baby's eyes--flash does not harm their eyes--it's only a matter of possibly startling them).

Although Buff lights are not right at the moment at cutting edge (no HSS capability, for instance), they are still extremely good for studio use and the Paul C Buff customer service is legendary.

I have six Buff lights myself, and although I'm going to another brand for outdoor location HSS service, I'm not willing to give up Buff for my studio use.
