New TS-E 90mm macro lens from Canon: https://www.the-digital-picture.com ...sComp=0&Lens=1166&Units=E (external link)

Maximum magnification is only 0.5x though.

Question: IS using the "magic angle" approach (normal, non TS-E macro lens) to get most part of our macro subject in focus the same as using the TILT feature on TS-E lens for similar result?

'Kind of' :-) but I would not think it practical for moving subjects but on the other hand great for Product shots. It takes practice and a lot of fiddling around to get what you want (imho).

Anyway Loved my TSE-90 + 36 mm extension tube for macro type work - (would not add more tubes or a TC)...

Could you please post a few macro images taken with that lens here?

If you could make a few comparison pics (magic angle vs tilting) with the same TSE90mm lens, that would be great.

I have no experience with the TS lenses Kurt, but in my head I think that the effect would pretty much be the same. I will focus on a proboscis, and then twist my wrist slightly to push the area of acceptable focus deeper into the frame to get the subjet's eye in focus. Example shot:

The tough part shooting with an actual TS lens would be in predicting the angle ahead of time, and hoping that the subject doesn't move. Not uncommon for me to have to refocus multiple times because the critter is pulling away from me.
