Got the Rotolight Neo 2 and can test against AD200 and Xplor600..anything you want to see?

Thanks. This is what I thought. Man, I liked his old videos where he was showing nice 12x12 scrim jim etc. Then when he lied to the ranger in SF bay area shooting a local model, I didn't like it all. That was totally wrong. Why put that part of the video on youtube. Now if I shoot same place and even though I am just a hobbyist, ranger going to ask me for permit. And then this pushing Neo2 knowing well inside that light is not powerful enough. I am not saying light is not good for when you just need a little bit of light but talks like HSS, shooting in the sun, come on.

I would point out too that the >1ft square surface area of the Rotolight is not particularly "diffused" at all, except at macro distances. So if it's not bright enough to send though a scrim or bounce off an umbrella, it's again nowhere touching the capability of a good powerful flash.

Second Test results:
I decided to try another test this time using the Godox V860II (the adorama rebranded one) vs the Neo 2.
Since the usual comment from the Rotolight rep when someone asks about the Neo 2 power vs a speedlight is that you need to diffuse the other flashes and lose a lot of power vs the Neo 2...I decided to put those claims to test.
To give the Neo2 all the advantage I decided to not use any modifiders with the Neo 2.
For the Godox I used a Mola Setti (White) in 3 configurations: with the mesh and the opal stack, adding the sock diffuser to those and finally without the sock diffuser but placing a solid metal beauty dish plate from my 56" Fotodiox beauty dish so that it was mesh+opal+fotodiox plate.

Settings were as before with light meter at 6', 1/50, ISO 100. The Godox was set to 24mm. The Neo 2 was set to its brightest temp 4110 and MAX+ as it was AC powered.

Neo 2 Results:
Once again it got F/1.6 at Max+ flash power at 1/50 (changes to 1/100?)
At MAX Constant light it did F/1.0

Godox Results:
Mesh+Opal: F/5.6
Mesh+Opal+Sock diffuser: F/5.0
Mesh+Opal+Fotodiox Metal plate: F/4.5

So much for the claims that because of all the diffusers needed to make the speedlight soft, the power differences were not as big as some may think. And to clarify, I personally would still use a diffuser with the Neo2 for softness but as you can see, even without one it is extremely weak.
If this was Mythbusters I would end with a...."BUSTED!"

ha I wish.
I am working on doing a video of the test. Lets see what they have to say about the test. I think I gave it every advantage and still failed. I need to do one under HSS too and see if things look better for it outdoors.

I really wish that other guy, Robert Hall Photography did more testing and put the results out.

He was promised one a long time ago to do a proper test after he had done a brochure review (probably to keep him quiet) as far as I know he is amongst a large group of reviewers this has happened to and they are all still waiting - read into that what you will

They ghosted him after offering to send a sample to review. After doing my tests, I can clearly see why.

I will add another small video with HSS but I did the test with the Speedlight using the Mola Setti with mesh+opal and settings at 1/4000 ISO 100 and it the Godox required 1/4 to match the exposure of the Neo 2 at full power with the AC Adapter.

I did a quick test (not on this video ) with HSS:

Godox at full power with the Mola Setti using mesh+opal = F/1.4 Shutter speed 1/2500 ISO 100
Neo 2 with no diffuser, temp 4110 for max output and with AC adapter. With Flash it got F/.8 and with 100 constant light .5
