I am comaparing these lenes because i need on in this range. I'll be using it for weddings primarily and will probably be a lens I use alot.
I have a couple questions. How do the Autofocus speeds compare on these lenses. I've already read enough to know the optics are pretty close. I just worry that the focus speed in lower light receptions and weddings may cause a problem on the Sigma and Tamron. I really don't have the money for the Canon though even though I want it. Can you give me some insite. Thanks |

Do a search ... this is discussed on a very regular basis. I've owned two of them and used all three. Af performance was perfectly fine with them all and they were all used in a range of conditions. I didn't use any in low light at a wedding. Personally, I would say get a couple of fast primes.

I have read a lot of the forum entries but I haven't found any that directly compare the focus speeds on these lenses and reported problems with a particular lens in lower light. If you could post some links maybe that would help.
Thanks |

You may want to ask this on the Wedding section of the forum.
I am not a wedding photographer, so I can't totally comment on that aspect. I do use the Tamron in low light situations such as the inside of sawmills and some of my daughter's indoor activities (ballet, ice skating, etc.). It may sometimes do some hunting at times, but is typically pretty good. The Tamron is certainly louder than Canon's USM. For some, noise may be a factor when deciding on a wedding lens.

I use the Tamron 28-75mm for weddings and it's a great lens. I recently did an informal test against my brother's canon 24-70 f2.8 L and my tamron was just as good.

Try and touch base with Ronald S. Jr He shoots weddings and has gone thru a few of these lenses. From what I have read, the Sigma and the Canon are pretty close optically. Fstopjojo's test actually shows the Sigma to be sharper than the L. I believe Canon wins hands down in build quality and is a bit faster with regards to autofocus (USM). Goo dluck.

I guess canon Canon 24-70mm F/2.8L is the best among those lens.
If you are looking for the budget and also the Lens quality then you can go for Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro. Sigma Is quite good and very very sharp. |
