Heya,

My Canon 17-40L is up for sale. Well cared for, excellent lens, sharp and renders great color. It comes with Canon caps on both ends (updated to the pinch style cap) and it comes with the EW-83E felt lined Canon hood. I do not have the box. The condition of the lens is great, a few minor superficial scuffs or blemishes on the surface, but all of it functions properly and smoothly, with very little wear on any letters. This lens handles flare really well, right into the sun. This has been a go-to lens for me for a long time for outdoor landscape and indoor event. My only reason for selling it is because I'm changing systems and going to mirrorless for part of what I do with my wider stuff.

(I have the 17-40L & 5DC both for sale now, if you buy both, I'll discount for both as a bundle)

Lens Model: Canon EF 17-40mm F4L
Lens Date Code if applicable: UR0800 (see photo)
Lens Body Condition: 8/10 (conservative for being used, minor scuffs, see photos)
Lens Glass Condition: 9/10 (immaculate, only a 9 for being used)
Sale Includes: Canon 17-40L Lens, Canon end caps, Canon felt lined hood.
Price: 400, $380 shipped & paypal fees covered
Payments Accepted: Paypal (or cash if local to Gainesville, Florida)
Shipping Available To: Continental USA
Best Contact Method: PM or in this thread
Feedback: I'm in the feedback thread if you need to look, all positive, search me up
Reason for selling: Migrating to mirrorless

I find it tends to be ok on APS-C for coma, but it exhibits oblong shapes on bright stars (the spikes here are not natural, they were added to help deal with the oblong bright star shapes, you can see that shape near the core on those stars).

I don't recommend it as a night sky lens.

*** See my next post for examples of what the lens produces on light sources for star spikes or rays naturally.

Here's an example at 17mm on an APS-C:
