...but you don't have to sign up for a free account to get the information the Road Dog wanted.

Post #2 in this thread said you do. I had no reason to disbelieve it. A lot of arguing about the option of opening an account could have been avoided if that post had contained correct information or none at all.

Just like posting an answer such as "in the time you took to type this question you could have found the answer" one could say the exact same to the poster of that answer, this just shows that people who enjoy argueing or insulting will find a way to do so just as easily as others will find the precious time to find an answer even if the poster was lazy/unwilling to find one.

Give a man a fish......

No one could have answered the OPs question because they didn't give any of the information necessary for even a ballpark answer. Had the OP gone to Getty they would have found out...
1. All the information that is necessary for a proper licensing quote,
2. That their preconceptions about Getty declining people were unfounded,
3. The answer to their question.

I prefer the option where the person learns rather than the option where they get spoon fed the fish and come back again for more next time. I prefer to give my fish to people who actually need it, rather than those quite capable of fishing who can't be bothered.

...post 2 wasn't strictly wrong. You can sign up for a free account and you can use the licensing calculator. Or you can just visit the getty website and use the licensing calculator.

And a lot of arguing about the option of opening an account could have been avoided if the person who posted right before post 2 had simply gone to the getty website to check things out for themselves.
