So, I was trying to do a shoot of my family 2 weeks ago. I was using my 48' Octa on my lightstand. Its a pretty cheap one by Impact that I've had for years. Its pretty much lightweight and garbage. It was decently windy, but nothing to crazy. Needless to say, it blew over 2-3 times and now my Octa is all bent up.
Anyways, would a more durable stand or boom with a sandbag have mitigated this issue? I know mother nature is mother nature and sometimes Its gonna happen, but just wondering if I should invest in a boom.
Looks like there is some flashpoints for cheap: https://www.adorama.com/fplsb13.html
or maybe Manfrotto is the way to go: https://www.adorama.com/bg3397b.html
Althought I dont wanna spend $200 on a stand/boom. I'm just a hobbiest and occasionally do side gigs.
