Here is the sequence of the hatching of some shield bugs.
In the first photo you see some week old shield bugs from a different batch with the one that has already hatched the previous day.
Progressing through to the hatching of four of his buddies. I still have 5 unhatched eggs under observation.

Fascinating sequence and I was impressed by the way they cut neat circles out of the shells to emerge, rather than bursting out like butterflies do.

If you look closely it has a line like a coke can so the only have to push on one spot and it tears along that line :)

It happened very quickly, about 10 minutes from start to finish
I was lucky enough to walk past when it started

Wow! Those eggs look incredible. They look more like they were created by precision machines and intelligent engineering than the evolutionary steps of a common insect. The wonders of nature are amazing.

Agree with Cyber. Looking at the images of the bugs hatching definitely can give you good ideas for a monster movie!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
