1 - I love the fact that these are classic Rogers drums. I own a Rogers kit, but it's not pre-CBS like this kit. However it is still a fantastic kit.

2 - as a drummer, I'd love to know how he actually plays this kit. Everything is so crammed in together (although that may be due to some wide-angle distortion). Seriously, I think he has every cymbal manufactured in the last 30 years.

He is a really tall guy that can reach all of it. I have watched him play it and it's fully functional. Yea its with the Sigma 10-20mm 3.5, mad distortion. The kit was started over 45 years ago.

That's an awesome setup, nice shots using the wide angle too.

As a recording engineer, I've always considered there to be an inverse relationship between the drummer's talent and the size of his kit. While this may not be the case here, it'd take a really big budget to even mic that kit!

I know what you mean by overcompensating for talent, but in this case, he has worked over 20 years to get all of this. He is a great chill drummer, not like animal from the muppets lol.

Ha, recently saw an interesting video about gated reverb making a comeback....would think this setup would be a recording engineer's nightmare (especially in the early days of gated reverb). Also wonder how the shear size is with a stage performance: can you even see the drummer if you're in the audience? From your description, it seems like it would be nice to hear how he utilizes all the different cymbals and drums in a performance. It's also impressive hardware photographically.

This is 100% home use only. Takes months to arrange. Not ever item is utilized in a single song or solo, but I did watch, or listened rather, because you cannot in fact see much while he is playing lol, him playing a solo with a bunch of the cowbells that are hidden around the symbols.

I've been watching music extensively for over 40 years and have seen some of the best drummers in the world and I've Never seen anything like this at a "live" music event. Not that I wouldn't want to, it's incredible but it doesn't look to practical...

Bozzio.

Saw him live in Vancouver with the monster kit a decade ago. It was incredible.

Thanks for this post. I've seen Frank Zappa 5 times and even saw Terry Bozzio with Missing Persons and never saw the drum setup like this. Damn I would love to see one of these shows with the big drum set!
