What kind of HDMI output does the Canon 70D and 80D have?

Progressive or interlaced?

Depends on resolution

70D resolutions: (Switches automatically to suit the resolution) "Video output: 1080/60i, 1080/50i, 480/60p, 576/50p"
80D resolutions: from what I can read, is the same for HDMI output. It does support 1080P/60 internal recording of mp4

Thanks! When shopping for a 7" HDMI field monitor, should most of them work or do I need something that is Canon specific?

For just a monitor, any one that accepts HDMI should be fine. 1080i/60 looks fine on 7" (though looking at some specs, many scale internally to a different resolution).

This one, https://www.bhphotovid​eo.com ...htweight_advanced_o​n.html (external link), has some reviews that specifically mention Canon. A bit pricey however.
