Going to British Columbia in September to see grizzly bears and whales (hopefully birds also).
Need advice on lenses.

Taking 5d mkiv and 1Dx.
1.4x and 2.0x extenders.

Advice on following lenses required.

16-35 f4 IS or 24-105 f4 IS

70-200 f2.8 mk ii

400mm DO vi or 100-400 mk ii.

500mm f4 too heavy for flights so not considering.

If it were me I would probably go with the 24-105 so I had a general walkabout lens, unless you are going to cover that with a compact cameras of some sort, and the 100-400 II. Then it would be a toss up on one of the other two, I would probably go with the 16-35, to have an ultra wide for the possibility of some landscape shots. I know the ƒ/2.8 is tempting, but it's a big lump of lens I would think travelling with two large telephotos would be difficult. With the converters the 70-200 will give you 400mm, while the 100-400 will get you to 560mm with PDAF and even 800mm with MF or contrast AF in LV. Hence my selection of the 16-35.
