Supposedly on the way, but "wow" the weight is around 2.5#!

F/2.8 is now how I shoot such a lens. I can't possibly the only one. The 12-24 II goes for around $400, doesn't it? At apertures I'd use, the IQ difference just has to be insignificant. Who are they aiming these last two lenses at?

probably at the Nikon 14-24 2.8 crowd with a lower price

It would be good for Astro and event photographers, but yeah if you are using it for landscape trying to get absolutely everything in the frame in focus, it doesn’t make sense.

I wonder what it would cost because it doesn’t offer much that the Tamron 15-30/2.8 VC already offers for a good $1200 price. The Sigma 12-24/4 is a stop slower and still costs $1600 albeit significantly wider 12 versus 14mm, so I imagine this 2.8 Sigma would be more than the 4.0 lens.
