The new Canon EOS M50 has been announced. (external link)

It supposedly comes under the M5 but has some pretty impressive specs including 4k video, eye autofocus and improved DPAF sensor.

I like that it has a flip OUT screen now. Looking forward to more details. Wish they would release a full frame mirrorless body too

Another take on the M50 at https://www.theverge.com …-specs-price-release-date (external link).

I noticed that the RAW format has changed. I wonder just how much post processing software will become obsolete or at least need some form of update?

I just received my M5 from B&H today. As much as I want the M50's flip out screen, i think i prefer having the extra control dials.

Sold all my gear to support starting a family... who inspired me to re-focus on photography again.

There are a "bunch" of videos on YouTube now about the M50. From what I have seen the camera does have 4K but it is heavily cropped by another 1.6 giving the equivalent of a 2.56 crop. Also they say you lose dual pixel AF when you switch to 4K. I will wait for the camera to be released and then read a few reviews about the final product before I make any decisions about which camera I purchase.

This camera may have been a good buy if it was around $400. Not what they are asking for. All of canons mirrorless are way over priced. They have basically no lens lineup to even want to buy into it. Using the adapter to use ef lenses doesn't count because what's the point on buying mirrorless if you have gigantic lenses on it. Anyone would be way better off buying the Panasonic G7,g85,gx8,g8, Fuji xt20, Sony a6000,6300.
This camera is just marketing for them to be able to advertise 4k in it when in reality that 4k implementation is useless garbage.

I just bought it yesterday and so far loving it. I'm going to sell my 80d I need the accuracy of mirrorless, it is so easy to use and the autofocus is so fast. Just wish it had one more dial and a little bigger grip but I can live with it. The eye autofocus is great so much more easier to compose your shots than a slr.

The Canon m50 is right up there with almost any other mirrorless camera today, as far as autofocus speed and tracking I think. I was surprised when you are shooting 4k video you can do focus peaking will you are recording video.

I would take the Canon m50 over any sl2 or t7i or 80d for 779 it's a pretty good deal. I also got the ef to m adapter at Best buy for 50 dollars when you bundle the body and adapter together. That's 150 dollars off that sold me on getting the m50.

I like that deal, and it might just push me off the fence on the M50. THANKS!

Looks like an excellent camera as long as your not a video geek. I'm looking at getting one for my daughter for a college graduation gift. She likes her Eos M, but needs faster focus. This looks like a perfect camera for her. Anyone else have any experience with it?

I got one last week. So far im very impressed with it. I sold my 80D to get this and i dont regret it at all. Of course it helps that i have a good set of full size lenses to use with it already.
Love how it feels in the hand and i have no complaints about IQ (as its the same as the 80D). At this rate i can see my 5D4 gathering dust.

Just a few early shots.
