Default Chicago Midway (56k warning

A lovely, if chilly, day today so I took a stroll down to Midway. It is squashed into a residential neighbourhood so the aircraft skim the rooftops as they come in.

The main downside is that you get Southwest, Southwest and a bit more Southwest so variety is a little limited. Even so, there are other bits and pieces. Nothing too large, though, given the length of the runways. You do also get light aircraft mixing it with the big boys.

On with the pics.

Thanks. I liked the day for pictures but didn't think what the sun could do to my head this early in the year. Everyone at work has noticed the red dome! Oh to have some hair again!

Good shots - shame you didn't get any of those buildings in there to show us how close they are.

Good shooting. That first single-engine is the one of the worst colour schemes/designs I've seen. ick.

Nice shots. Being an northsider I want to get out to O'Hare to get som shots but I'm not sure where a good place to set up would be anymore. Alot of the places I used to go with my dad as a kid to watch the planes come and go are no longer accesible any more.

There used to be a great spot along Irving Park Road with a little hotdog stand. Ahh the memories.

There are a couple of places I have tried at O'Hare. Of course, there you have a lot of runways that can be in use at any one time so you are taking your chances. I have been moved once by the police as well. No point in arguing in a situation like that, even though he said I could shoot from a bit further up the same street! PM me if you want more details.
