Cool shots, Bob. I have 1 hanging around my feeder this spring, which is unusual.

.
I absolutely love Red-winged Blackbirds. . Personally, I find them much more beautiful and interesting than many of the raptors that they harass.

I spend lots and lots of time with them each spring. . Many days I go out specifically for Red-winged Blackbird photography. . In fact, each year I think I spend more time photographing Red-winged Blackbirds than any other bird species. . And the only other species, overall, that I spend more time photographing are Pikas and Whitetail Deer.

Normally I photograph Red-winged Blackbirds in cattails and general deciduous riparian habitat. . However, this year I've had some opportunities to photograph them in Sagebrush and Greasewood, which has been a real treat. . Red-winged Blackbirds are one of my very favorite birds, and Sagebrush is one of my very favorite plants, so the opportunity to capture these two favorites in the same frame has been pretty special for me.

Neat shots Bob.

On a recent trip to south TX., we saw at least 10x (probably more) RWBB's than any other species.

Apologies in advance for photo-bombing your thread. :-/

Conversely, the Red-winged Blackbirds wouldn't mind it if there were fewer raptors about.

And I often agree with them

I suppose to the RWBB, a raptor is a raptor, but isn't that a Snail Kite? If so, surely it's no threat?

yes- that's a snail kite. my point exactly- rwbbs tend to be ill tempered and often don't play well with others
