Well I'd start with LCE and WEX. Do Clifton do secondhand? Then start looking at some of the more specialised secondhand dealers sites. I forget the names now, but buy a copy of Amature Photographer for a look at the adverts. Or just check it out next time you are in Tesco/Asda/Sainsbury's. There's Ebay of course, but I would want to be able to do a pickup personally, since you then get a chance to inspect the goods before parting with your money. Oh and if I were to sell on Ebay I would insist on pickup/cash only. I suppose that Ebay/Paypal do at least usually come down on the side of the purchaser, even when they are probably more likely to be the scammer than the scammed.

It is surprising to see this recommendation. . I wonder, is this advice based on personal experience, or not?

I have bought (and sold) thousands of items on eBay, and never had a transaction end up going awry. . As a purchaser, I would use eBay/PayPal without any hesitation whatsoever, inasmuch as "customer confidence" is concerned.

However, camera gear tends to sell for top dollar on eBay, so if I were looking for bargain basement prices, I would not bother with eBay, because used lenses are simply more expensive than they are via other sources.

The place where I find used lenses consistently listed at cheaper prices than anywhere else would be the classifieds on the Fred Miranda forum. . The classifieds here on our forum have a lot of good used gear, too, although the folks here seem to ask for more money than the people selling at FM.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
