Hello. Can anyone give me some advice on getting the LCD replaced or repaired?? I just bought the camrera in May, and I don't know when it happened, but there is a "crack" inside (horizontal) through the LCD. Bummer. It still takes pictures, but I can't see anything, and it does not respond to the control buttons. Should I send it to Cannon? or find a local shop to replace/repair it? as it is very unlikely to be covered on the 'warranty'? And if anyone has experience with this, (and I see it's been a topic before), how much did it cost
![]() Thanks for any and all help. Sincerely, tfb slc, ut |

It is likely that the camera got squished which broke the LCD cover, and possibly caused a cut in a circuit board, or damaged some buttons.
Is the LCD partially or entirely black? If not then the LCD glass is still intact. This *might* be repairable locally, but your likely best to send it to Canon itself. Often what happens is a local shop will send it to Canon (particularly with new technology cameras), and charge you a fee on top of Canons cost. Takes longer and costs more... |

I found my Canon S40 LCD broken this evening. I bought the camera about 9-10 months back and it was working fine till now. I still can take the pictures but cannot operate controls . There seems like a small crack on the top but the lcd is not completely blank.
Can I ask how much did it cost and where did you get it fixed from? Thanks in advance. |
