Default Let's try this again...

When your newly modified G1 arrives in the afternoon but you don’t get home until after dark, there’s a desperation to shoot anything that shows up in the viewfinder. In this case, it was the four-foot-high sitting Buddha in a corner of our living room.

It does have some small charm for looking slightly three-dimensional with the frame, the fern in front and the shadow behind. Anyway, it’s a quick shot to say hello and to once again thank people for their kind thoughts regarding my mother-in-law, whom I think of whenever I see this wood carving.

I created a remembrance page for her at www.kleptography.com/mamma. You may have read some of my comments in her thread but perhaps not the last bit, which is rather ironic.

I’ll post something a little more worthy of this camera soon.

Cheers,

Don

P.S. For those who don't know the story, my previous G1 was stolen about three weeks after it was modified for handheld true infrared. I purchased perhaps the last G1 in Hong Kong and sent it away for modification and it just arrived back today. The hot mirror was replaced with clear glass and it has a Lensmate 49mm adapter with a B+W 093 infrared filter.

Hey Don, perhaps you can share with us an insight into the effect the removal of the IR filter has on normal photography? Of course, you don't have the G1 with the normal filter for comparison, but perhaps you could make some images with the G2 and the G1m in color to see what impact the IR filter has? Unfortunately this would not constitute a perfect test since the IR filter in the G2 differs from that in the G1, but it might come close. (Would you have to put a ND filter on the G1m to prevent overexposure?) What do you think?

cheers,

to see this picture taken with the new camera and things sorting themselves a little better don is happy happy.

I really like the shot.
the serene face, the peaceful composure,
the shadows and ferns,
all together make it .
a beautiful altar.

best wishes
marie
