Default 2nd Apr 06- Tokyo -Bird photographying visit

Hi All,

We are planning to go for a bird photographying in Inokashira park.
Anyone who is interested, please join us. As of now 2 of us.

Destination : Inokashira Koen -Kichijoji ( Keio-inokashira line/ chuo line)
Time : 2nd April , 7:30AM at Kichijoji
what to see: birds. breeding birds( if we are lucky), Sakura
Meeting point : Kichijoji Station- there is only one tickit wicket and then escalators immediately after that. You can see the tickit windows here. Please wait at this location.

Inokashira koen is also a good place to see Sakura, so we should expect to see some blooms.

Please, reply to this thread and PM me.

Hmm, now the date has changed, I'm tempted to change my plans for Sunday. But I seriously don't think I have the kit for photographing birds....?

hmm.. if you can join it would be really great. Yeap generally for bird photos , u should have the longer lens. But I am not sure about Inokashira koen current status. how close birds will be and what type of birds etc.

But I last time when I went to Yamanakako with my 100-400 I had to remove the lens and use 17-85 because the swans were too close and too big.

In that case I might well join. My schedule isn't totally fixed yet for Sunday, but I need to check.

My first attempt at shooting birds was good fun. Raj and Swapnali are two really nice people and it was a pleasure to meet up with them. I must admit I have a bit of lens envy now though!

Shooting birds isn't easy, that's one thing I've learnt - it's too easy to just end up with snapshot like photos. With my short lens the only birds I could find were these ones:

...
No, seriously, I did manage to take a few more. I put a couple on the thread Swapnali posted above.

It was a nice day for photography - a bit overcast, but it brightened up occasionally.

I didn't find it boring at all! I did feel a bit of an idiot with my lack of knowledge of birds of course, but certainly not boring.

In the afternoon I went to Shakuji Koen - I highly recommend you (or we) try there next time. It's quite big and there seems to be a section where birds are nesting. There were also far less people.

Maybe I should fix my camera first!

Nice to know that u enjoyed. I am sure if you see these birds 2/3 times you will remember the names automatically. Nothing great about it. And we dont have too many species here in japan.
Yeah I have heard about Kami shakuji koen. And also heard a lot about good birds there. certainly we should plan to go there.
I went to Yoyogi koen in the afternoon. Was not that great this year.
