Cool Experimenting in Photoshop

I hope this is the place for this shot. I was experimenting with Photoshop on a train photograph that I posted in Transportation. I wanted it to look as though it was a sketch. What do you think? Thanks!

I like it a lot! There are so many things you can do with Photoshop it's almost rediculous. I think this makes it look like sketch for sure! Maybe try and have it black though? Great work!

Good job,
I would also like to see it converted in B&W and with a little level tweaking.

Hi Bo, Intersting image and result. Would you mind sharing your technique for doing this? Thanks, Dennis

Looks like you made it. Also joining the share-the-technique train.

Photodawg1: my favourite filter is USM. I almost exclusively use USM and gaussian blur from the filters section...

I'm not sure I know how to do the B&W thing and the level tweaking....

I am real new at this digital stuff & I'm not even sure I can explain how I did this? I'll see if I can go back into it & find exactly what I did. Please feel free to tweak it & do whatever you like to the photo. It would be great to see other ideas.

Bo.

OK, I managed to get it B&W but, I couldn't locate in my software anything that said leveling? Sorry. As I said, I am real NEW at this stuff!

Thanks, Bo.

I think all I really did was place the photo in Photoshop & chose the charcoal filter & then lightened it up a bit?

On that first picture, if you invert the colors (blue->white, white->blue) and crank up the contrast a notch... It'd look like an isometrically drawn blueprint or something. Very cool.

That was the first thing I thought when I saw the first image!

Doesn't quite seem to work with white on black as much. Out of the three, I'd still go with the first.

Yeah, I couldn't get it to do the blue & white reversal thing?
