Hi, I have been checking out this forum for a little while now, and I would like to say how helpfull it has been. I have recently purchased (yesterday) a Canon 350D, my introduction to digital photography!, after owning a Canon 650 SLR for some years. There is a lot of usefull and interesting information made freely available on this forum, and I will be visiting frequently as I get to grips with my new purchase. Keep up the good work, your help is greatly appreciated.
Kind regards, Iain

Indeed. Welcome to the forum.

You've come into the hobby at an amazing time. Cameras are so good now, and (relatively) cheap! Compared to the digital cameras of just a few years ago that many of us started with, the 350D is a Rolls Royce.

I dunno about global domination! ...... But thanks for the welcome!
Might have known a few enterprising Kiwis would be lurking around here somewhere! So, I have put the camera and lense and grip thingy together, charged and fitted the batteries, scared the cat by accidently triggering the flash! found out what error 5 is! (cos the flash thing popped up and hit my hat, without me knowing), scared the cat again, by taking my first photo while she was sort of asleep in the conservatory chair, and the flash went off! and am now ready to enter the world of digital photography, cant wait for the weekend!

I'm guessing the cat is maybe a little less enthusiastic than you about the new camera.

Have fun, and maybe post a couple shots of your wide-eyed kitty.

Great camera, especially since you live in one of the most interesting places on earth! Go out and shoot a duck (picture) and post. We are all eager to help and ready to congratulate. Welcome and enjoy the very fun, yet expensive ride.

I always thought it would be nice to be reincarnated as a cat. All they do is sleep and eat all day, and occasionally sit on someone's lap and demand attention. I've changed my mind, though. Cats get tortured and abused by photographers way too much.

Welcome to the forum Iain!
