Default Upgrade from g2 to D30 - best price

I'm looking to make the leap to the D30. anyone know of the current best deal for the camera ? i'm watching canogacameras.com, cametacamera.com and of course B&H. Anyone any experience with buydig.com (their proce is $2075 for US product). I'm looking to take advantage of the canon microdrive and batery offer.

Does everyone think the 28 - 70 2.8L (from deltainternational) is a good first lens ?

hi...

i think delta international may have the best price right now ($1997) but i don't know if that is the whole kit, etc...if it were up to me i'd go with b&h or canoga...both VERY reputable...however if you want to take advantage of the deal...you'll need to go with a authorized canon dealer (i've seen some info to the contrary on occasion but i wouldn't take chances with it)

the 28-70L is a GREAT choice for a first lens...it would have been mine but i didn't have the $$$ at the time i bought the D-30...i eventually bought a 28-70L and never looked back : ) you will NOT be disappointed...

good luck...

I just got mine from bestaudiovideo.com. they had awesome ratings on bizrate and my camera got here exactly when it should. I would be suspicious of any price below $2100.

The 28-70L is a very very good all purpose lens. It's on the heavy/bulky side and quite expensive but very fast autofocus, little distortion at 28mm or 70mm and quite sharp. It's the lens I use the most with the D30.

I have been searching for quite some time now and on the advice of some discussion groups checked with www.pricescan.com. I searched USA authorized distributors and came up with a winning bid of $1969.00 US. from www.DigitalLiquidators.com That is the best I have found for a US warranty camera.

I'm going to call, check it out, and assuming it's not to good to be true, I plan on ordering my D-30 from them. I'll let you know how it turns out

hi scottie...

i dunno about digitalliquidators...their site looks EXTREMELY similar to bway photo...as well as their prices...and they're in manhattan (although try and find THAT out on the website) i checked them out and they are very UNforthcoming with info...but strangely are way under cost for most of the stuff on the front page...if it walks like a duck and squacks like a duck...

i'll stick with my earlier suggestion...delta internation is the cheapest legit i see...and if you want to purchase a d 30 and be able to get that 1 meg cf card rebate...then you need an authorized canon dealer...canoga or b&h (both around $2200)

you won't be disappointed...or ripped off...

Bob

Thanks for the advice and you were right it was a duck! So I took your advice and ordered form conoga it ended up really being a good deal. I got the camera, a spare battery, the vertical grip, along witht the canon extended warrenty, free 1 G microdrive and another free battery all for $2349.00. The salesman on the phone was very nice and knowledgable it felt like I was talking to a friend not a salesman.

Thanks for the great advice bob, I look forward to sharing some photos with you later.

Thanks again,

Scott
