Default Anyone ever make a deal with Calumetphoto.com???

Hello, and good day. I am looking to get the Calumet Travelite 2250 w/s Three head Studio pack with LiteLink.

http://www.calumetphoto.com/item/CE1465/ESP.html

Calumet has it listed for $1999 + tax in CA, + Shipping. Anyone ever had any success trying to work a deal. If so, how might I go about trying? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Ian

I'm not a fan of Calumet. They're the priciest shop in my hometown, they're unwilling to budge on their prices. Not to mention the know-it-all attitudes of their staff.

I don't think they deal--they don't have to. In regards to the "know-it-all attitude. They DO know a LOT and this is tremendously helpful. Ask them questions they give knowledgable answers. I am waiting for a genuine need and I will be purchasing the 3 light kit myself. Obviously a good step from the local favs --"Bees".

I bought a tripod and head from them on line a few months ago. They were shipped immediately and arrived in perfect condition. Couldn't ask for more.

They are a professional photo dealer and probably don't deal unless you are planning to outfit a big studio and have a couple hundred grand to spend.

I've run into the attitude there also. At least at Cal's they're nice when they bend you over. At Pro Photo not only are they nice & knowledgeable, but the prices can be pretty good too.

From looking around & usingthe borrows Travelite 1400 setup, it seems that the Calumets are just rebaged variations of Bowens (look a lot like the Esprit line). Good lights though.

Yes, they are a professional dealer. They are located smack in the middle of Los Angeles' photo studio district. If I am going to buy professional equipment--I want professional advise. I could care less about attitude as long as I get accurate information I can use to make a good decision.

Suprised to hear this, over here in England my local Calumet are very helpful, very knowledgable, and the only attitude they have is a "can do" one ! ok they aren't the cheapest in town but you gets what you pays for

I've bought several thousand dollars worth of equipment from the San Diego store and yes, they can move some on price. It doesn't cost anything to ask.
