Hi folks i'm still new at this, I read the sticky about image sizing for the forums ( 100kb 800 px max ) but a lot of the pictures in the nature forum are up to 4 times that size. when I try to attach a larger picture to a thread it won't let me. Am I missing something ?. I don't want to post huge images but getting the photos down to the required size is hard.

If you link to an external host (ie: Imageshack or whoever you like) you can post larger images.
But try to be courteous and dont go crazy posting HUGE files some still use 56K

They are linking to images hosted by an external provider, like this:
![]() You right click on your image, select "Copy Image Location," and click the button, and paste the URL for the image in the text box and click "OK." You'll need an image hosting site. I use smugmug.com.

But they are not linking to external hosting sites or web pages, for example in the nature forum post " open range zoo photos " the rhino photo is 393908 kb according to the properties almost 4 times the allowed size. As I said I don't want to post huge images but I also do not want to crop them to almost nothing or lose all of the detail.

1. 2 images in post, attached (stored in forum). Size limit 100KB / 800*800. Many people use this and get very good quality - it's matter of using the PS correctly (Save for web). 2. Embedded photos. See http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...ad.php?t=51022 for guidelines. Embedding is done with BBCODE: [IMG]http://www.yourimagehost.com/yourphoto.jpg[/IMG]
