Does this lens work fine on a 1.3 crop?

MaDProFF: I think it will work, but the lens is designed for the 1.6/1.5 crop factor cameras. You will probably experience some severe vignetting at the low end. I tested it on my 5D and it was unusable from 16-17mm down to 12mm. I can't say for sure how it's gonna perform with a 1.3crop camera though. Would be advisable to look into a different lens.
And aximrocks, those were some pretty nice photos. Loving the second one. 3 processed samples. Tokina 12-24 with Canon EOS 400D. From Norway. ![]() ISO100, f/11, 12mm, two-shot blend 1/2s and 1/5s ![]() ISO400, f/9, 12mm, 1/25s ![]() ISO100, f/8, 19mm, 1/13s

I will say that I use the 24mm end far more than I ever wish for 10mm, so the extra 4mm on the long end is more important to me than the 2mm on the wide end. Heck, at 12mm, I was able to get the entire John Hancock Center in Chicago in the frame, and I was only standing 25 feet from the base (considering the Hancock building is 1127 feet tall, that's pretty darn close). I had to use the diagonal, but I think the composition is more dynamic that way anyway, than if I had 10mm and just lazily did another vertical. ![]()

Hey, I want one as well! What do these things run, and will they work on a FF 5D?

They will work, but not below 16-17mm. I don't recommend the Tokina 12-24 for the 5D. If you're looking for wide angle on the 5D, check out the 17-40L or 16-35L (mkII preferably). 17-40L is a steal really.

Multiply 12-24mm range by 1.6 and you get a FF equivalent of 19-38mm. So no, it wouldn't be quite as wide as the 17-40 on the 5D. I have the Tokina along with the Canon 17-40L and I love them both!

Here's one I took a few months ago. Lost some width as I did a pretty major perspective correction in Photoshop to eliminate the keystoning. Believe it or not, the colors here are a darn good representation of the real colors that day. The sky was so blue it was almost scary.
